This week’s Waypoint
Scripture
verse 28“Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. verse 29Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you will find rest for your souls. verse 30For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
Come Tired
Jesus said these words when many who had seen his miracles were brushing him off. His invitation is to anyone worn out and weighed down, including people who feel they should have it together by now. Then he reaches for a farm picture: a yoke, the wooden beam that joined working animals to their load. He offers his own, a way of living learned from a teacher who calls himself gentle and humble. Nobody has to arrive rested. You can come tired.
What has worn you out that you haven’t yet brought to Jesus?
Block out one unhurried hour this weekend, with no screen and nothing to finish. Spend the first few minutes telling Jesus, in your own words, what has taken the most out of you. Let the rest of the hour be rest.
